My full name is Benjamin Franklin

I was born on January 17, 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts

Some of my major accomplishments include inventing the lightning rod, bifocals and the Franklin stove. I am also known for my role in drafting the United States Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution.

I played a significant role in the American Revolution, serving as a diplomat to France and securing their support for the colonists. I also served as Postmaster General for the Continental Congress and helped negotiate the Treaty of Paris which ended the war.

As a young boy, I was fascinated with science and conducted many experiments. Later in life, I became interested in electricity and began experimenting with lightning. It was this work that eventually led to the invention of the lightning rod.

My advice for young people is to never stop learning. Education is important and can lead to great success in life. Also, be honest and work hard.

I was a vocal opponent of slavery and became an active abolitionist towards the end of my life. I owned slaves earlier in my life, but later became convinced that slavery was morally wrong.

I enjoyed swimming and often did it in the River Thames in London. I also wrote under several pseudonyms. Additionally, I was appointed as the first United States Ambassador to France.

I was a skilled printer and publisher, and started my own printing business in Philadelphia in 1728. I also helped establish the Library Company of Philadelphia and American Philosophical Society, both of which were important in promoting scholarship and learning.

I am considered one of the founding fathers of the United States, and my contributions to science, literature, diplomacy and politics continue to be felt today. My ideas around democracy, individual liberty and civic duty are still relevant and continue to inspire people around the world.
